Having an opportunity to bring up a child is a blessing. Whether Christian or not raising a child is a great opportunity to watch a child grow and guide them through the ways of life. Today many people including devoted Christians are finding it hard to raise their children in a Christian manner. The advance in technology has made it possible for children to access almost everything including inappropriate content. This disorients their Christian ways of living making it challenging to keep them focused on true Christianity. Although this guide does not have a complete list of how to raise your child in Christian ways it presents you with a few essential ideas you can apply to help you raise your child the right way.
It is imperative as a Christian parent or guardian to model what Christians need to look like. Similar to how the bible tells us, God is Holy and encourages us to follow the same way of life we need to live like that not only for our children but for the world to see our Christianity. People should tell we are Christian by our actions and tell we are believers in everything we do, even though it is hard to be perfect because of various temptations were are exposed to in this world, our children can immensely learn from us. When we fall into temptation and overcome them our children will surely tell us we are not perfect but they will know we are authentic and they will emulate our Christian lifestyle.
A Christian should make the family is prioritized. As a Christian God comes first, family second, and then our work follows. This may sound simple but many Christians struggle with this, we tend to give our job more attention than our family and limit our time with God. It is always good to recognize that there will always a meeting to attend, something to complete, a group to lead, and if you are not well organized you will neglect your family, and your relationship with God weakens. Therefore make sure you give your family the right attention to maintain a healthy relationship with God and your kids will emulate you when they start their families.
It is our first responsibility as Christian parents to teach our children about God and the bible. Although the church is tasked with educating children most of Christian life, kids should learn from us first. Introduce your kids to God's way, and let the church further what you started. Children have so much trust for people they love and those who are close to them and therefore if they hear about God and learn Christian ways from you first they are likely to maintain it for the rest of their life.
